The country has greater needs than usual right now. As a result, this is a tenuous time in our democracy as we navigate unchartered waters where entire groups are subverting our democratic principles. Gerrymandering, voter suppression, and extreme norm-breaking are breaking apart our systems and rule of law. If you have been worried or agitated, you’re not alone. And if you’re a Republican or an Independent who wants to help bring their conservative values back, you’re safe with us too. Right now the country needs us all to remember what its Founding Fathers envisioned and work towards those ideals. We can disagree on policy, but we need to agree on democracy itself.
